ETI Partners with Knox Law Firm and SBDC to Offer Legal Seminar

Wednesday Jul 20th, 2016

The Gannon University Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Erie Technology Incubator (ETI) and Knox Law are partnering to host an informational session on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. regarding a pivotal change to overtime regulations beginning December 1, 2016. Individuals are encouraged to register early, due to limited seating. Cost is $15. Registration begins at 11:00 a.m., lunch will be provided, and the event will take place in Room 300 of Gannon’s Center for Business Ingenuity at 900 State Street.

The seminar will provide information about how the minimum guaranteed weekly salary for most overtime exempt positions will increase from $455/week to $913/week. This will be a mandatory change to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) for businesses and is expected to affect up to 15 million positions, including many in smaller markets. The seminar will clarify the new updates to the FLSA and how employers can determine if changes are required to their staff positions to comply. Don’t miss this opportunity to ensure your business is not at risk of federal and state non-compliance claims.

Attorney Mark Kuhar, Knox Law, has represented private and public employers in many forums, including administrative agencies and state and federal trial and appellate courts, for over 20 years. His practice is limited to representing management in labor and employment matters, with a special emphasis on the defense of EEO claims and the litigation of employment law claims.
